Cooler Weather & Flowering Plants - 19/05/2010 2:13pm
As the weather cools the smaller heliconias and gingers are starting to slow with their flowering - especially the psittocorums. However the cool weather does do some wonderful things to the anthuriums. They are all starting to come back into full bloom and the OBAKE (large anthuriums with green ears and tails) which disappear during the summer months are once again showing themselves with their spectacular massive flowers.
Other areas that tend to enjoy this cooler weather are the foliage plants particularly the cordylines that gain that lustre to their leaf that seems to be lacking during the summer. We are also looking forward to the crab claw (erect heliconias) flush that usually occurs when the psittocorums have slowed right down.
Keep an eye out for the new flowers in the IN BLOOM section and also in our products of the month.
