About Cairns Tropical Flowers
Tropical Flowers Cairns was started under the name Grocert Horticultural Supplies over 10 years ago by Paul and Donagh (that's me!!). We worked as the agents for Nuturf, supplying fertilisers to many of the golf courses in the region and supplying, on a small scale, cut heliconias and ginger to markets in Brisbane and Sydney as well as plants to local landscapers and gardeners.
We quickly realised that the land that we were on was not large enough to accommodate and grow the markets we were looking at so we decided to lease another area of land close to our own property. We remained at this property for about 8 years, growing and building a large business employing 5 full time and casual staff.
In July 2007, we were offered the opportunity to lease Twinstreams Nursery in the Redlynch Valley which had large areas of land available for us to plant our heliconias and gingers as well as approximately 2.5 acres of established anthurium beds.
We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to diversify our product range while consolidating the areas of land we needed. Since moving to the new property we have not looked back expanding our customers on the local Cairns market and extending our customers in the southern markets.
Our aim is to produce quality cut flowers which means our plants are maintained in the best of health, and all root stock and nursery plants supplied are of the best quality. As most of the established plants are now 2.5 years old they are into their second or third flowering and at the prime of their life. The flowers are big and strong and our cut flower mixed boxes offer everyone from the hobbyist to the professional florist quality, fresh long lasting flowers.
